My Seiko had been sitting in a drawer for two years because I assumed the movement had a problem. Brought it to Nawa Watch expecting bad news — turned out to be a flat battery and tired seals. They changed both, showed me the pressure test, and had it back the same afternoon. I felt a bit embarrassed that I hadn't done it sooner.

Straightforward and fair. I had a Citizen automatic that was losing about three minutes a day — noticeable enough to be annoying. They tuned the movement, let it run for a couple of days, and handed it back running at roughly +6 seconds. The price was as quoted and there were no extras. The only thing I'd note is that the turnaround took slightly longer than I was expecting — but they did mention that was possible.

I brought in a watch that was my father's — an older Orient automatic he had worn for over twenty years. I was nervous about it because it is not particularly valuable but it means a lot. Nawa Watch treated it carefully and explained everything before they started. The full service took about two and a half weeks. The written summary they gave me at the end was a nice touch — I keep it with the watch now.

Three batteries changed here over the years — same quality each time. They always check the water resistance after opening the case, which I have noticed other places skip. Small thing, but it shows they are paying attention.

I was visiting Hat Yai for work and noticed my Tudor was gaining time. Dropped in without an appointment and was given a clear explanation of what a movement tune would involve and what it would cost. I left the watch and picked it up at the end of the week. Timing was much better. Would stop in again next visit.

My grandmother's watch needed a full service and the case was quite worn. I was concerned that a refinish might make it look too new and lose some character. I explained this before they started, and they understood exactly what I meant. They worked gently and it came back looking tidy without erasing all the marks of age. I appreciated that they listened.

02 — Service Stories

Three watches, three different situations

The situation

A quartz diver worn in the sea

A customer brought in a quartz diver that had developed occasional condensation inside the crystal. He had bought the watch second-hand and was unsure of its service history.

What we did

Battery + pressure test, gasket replacement

We found the gasket around the crown was split. Fresh battery fitted, gasket replaced, pressure test run after reassembly. The condensation issue was the result of a broken seal, not a crystal problem.

The result

Sealed and back in the sea

Watch passed the pressure test and was returned the same day. Customer reported no further condensation after three months of regular sea use. Total cost: ฿1,480.

The situation

An automatic gaining 3 minutes daily

A Seiko 5 that had been well-worn for several years had started running noticeably fast — about +3 minutes a day. The owner tracked it for two weeks to be sure before bringing it in.

What we did

Movement tune and rate regulation

Initial timing showed +185 seconds per day. Regulator adjusted, hairspring examined for distortion, light cleaning applied. Watch allowed to run in the workshop for 48 hours before final reading.

The result

Settled to +9 seconds per day

Customer collected with both readings in hand. He noted that for a vintage movement without a full overhaul, this was a satisfying outcome. Returned the following year for the full service. Total cost: ฿2,690.

The situation

A family automatic unserviced for 12 years

An older Longines passed down from a father to his son. It still ran — just — but sluggishly, and the bracelet had become uncomfortable. No service record was available.

What we did

Full care and gentle refinish

Complete movement disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, fresh lubricants, rate regulation. Bracelet links cleaned and lightly polished on flat surfaces only — brushed finish on sides left as original. New crown gasket and case-back seal fitted. Pressure test passed. Written summary prepared.

The result

Running comfortably; worn daily again

Collected after 18 days. Rate settled at +11 seconds per day — well within the movement's original specification. The owner said it was the first time in years it had sat comfortably on his wrist. Total cost: ฿4,110.
